Each LMT pulls techniques from the different modalities that they have been trained in. Eden has a background in Clinical Massage therapy (a combination of Manual Therapy, Sports Massage, and Myofascial Release typically found in physical therapy offices) and Thai Massage. As such, she typically uses a combination of muscle activation and movement techniques to loosen up tight muscles and break up scar tissue.

Traditional Thai Massage

Traditional Thai Massage is believed to be over 2,500 years old. It originated in India and has been influenced by Traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. Unlike Western table massage, Traditional Thai Massage is performed on a mat on the floor and the client is fully clothed. Often called assisted yoga, Thai Massage utilizes a   combination of movement, pulling, stretching and rhythmic compression to alleviate tension,  improve circulation and flexibility, and nurture relaxation.

There have actually been multiple studies to determine the health benefits of Traditional Thai Massage (TTM).  One such study  found that TTM was more effective in relieving scapulocostal syndrome (upper-back   pain) than physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound and heat therapy. Another study tested TTM on a group of soccer players and found that each player showed an overall improvement in flexibility, agility and speed. There is even a study that found three weeks of Traditional Thai Massage proved to be as effective in pain relief as taking ibuprofen for the same amount of time.
